Eye flu cases rises, people are more vulnerable to viral infections.
Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Gujarat are the northeastern states with the highest number of these instances reported.Delhi, New: Eye specialists are concerned that the high number of cases of conjunctivitis and eye flu being reported nationwide could indicate the emergence of a new viral infection-related hazard.
According to (Dr.) Jeewan Singh Titiyal, Chief of the RP Eye Center and an ophthalmology professor at AIIMS (Delhi), there is an outbreak of conjunctivitis or eye flu this year. At AIIMS, we are seeing around 100 patients a day and a notable increase in cases. This is a viral infection that is quite prevalent in India due to the severe rains, flooding, humidity, and decline in hygiene that we have had this year. It is imperative that individuals wash their hands and refrain from touching their eyes. If you are infected, wear goggles as they stop the infection from spreading.
People need to be made aware of the eye flu.
"People need to be educated about viral illnesses and the precautions they should take, especially schoolchildren. These illnesses are extremely prevalent. Conjunctivitis, for instance, is not a recent occurrence. Some of the factors are weather and temperature conditions, congested places, health, and cleanliness. There is an abrupt increase of instances, and clusters are forming everywhere. "We are analyzing a few samples that we have collected locally," a top scientist at the National Institute of Virology in Pune stated.
